Amal Clooney is a renowned human rights lawyer, advocate, and scholar. Born in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1978, she spent much of her childhood in the UK before eventually settling in the US. Despite her international upbringing, Amal remains deeply connected to her Lebanese heritage and uses her platform to bring attention to issues impacting the Middle East.
Amal’s professional accomplishments are numerous and diverse, and include working on high-profile cases such as representing WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, former President of the Maldives Mohamed Nasheed and former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko. She has also been a vocal advocate for the rights of refugees, women’s rights, and freedom of speech, and has received numerous awards and accolades for her work.
